I have been living in Toronto for over thirty years and this afternoon I discovered the Church of the Holy Trinity adjacent to the Eaton Centre. The church opened its doors on October 27, 1847.

Bob Smyth is one of several church volunteers and he provided me with a lot of the church’s historical accounts to enrich the visiting experience. The church offers a self-guided tour which I highly recommend.

According to Wikipedia, Colonel Harland Sanders started his fried chicken magic around 1930 and the rest has become comfort food history–hopefully one day Kentucky Fried Chicken [Canada] will include biscuits on their menu. Whenever I find myself in the United States, I try to hit up a KFC because the biscuits and gravy are dynamite!

A Twitter follower of mine has informed me that the Colonel’s glasses were probably Clubman Art-Rim by Art-Craft.

This past weekend I attended PodCamp Toronto 2010 for the first time. PodCamp is an annual “unconference” for people who are into social media. I learned a lot and met some cool people including Natalie–pictured here–wearing Chateauneuf frames from Bevel Spectacles.

I highly recommend the motion picture “Avatar”, directed by James Cameron. My friend Michael and I watched it yesterday in Digital 3D and it was worth every penny. I don’t have a clue about how the 3D technology works but the glasses pictured here were very comfortable to wear over by regular glasses. The story and acting are solid. Stephen Lang’s portrayal of Colonel Miles Quaritch was off the hook! The Colonel is a sick bastard – see for yourself.

You have the option of recycling the 3D glasses in theatre or to keep them.

The Vancouver 2010 Olympic Torch Relay is making its way through Southern Ontario this weekend. I drove over to North Etobicoke this morning to witness the relay and it was well worth it. The spectator turnout was very strong. Pictured here is Vicky – one of several privileged torch bearers.

These brave – that’s BRAVE – men and women ran three kilometres in and around Yorkville this afternoon to raise money for the Toronto Hospital for Sick Children Toys and Games fund. Why BRAVE, you asked? When you factor in the Wind Chill, the temperature was well below minus two degrees Celsius.

This picture was taken at the conclusion of the run. The participants were a fun bunch, and yes, wearing a Speedo was mandatory.

My wife and I were passing through the Eaton Centre last night and came across the Santa photo booth. St. Nick is looking a little lonely here – perhaps tired. The young adults in queue (off-camera) were fascinated by the green screen technology in use here. My buddy Mike will probably contact me later today to advise me that the ‘green screen’ photographic term is called Chroma Key.
